Medleyjukebox is a band created by the musicians of a band that used to
be called Myein which split up in summer 2004. In their two-years
existence Myein played over 40 gigs in different countries such as
Luxembourg, France, Belgium, Germany and Italy, recorded several demos,
opened for many confirmed bands...

HISTORY

The "Eyes see" & "Silly" Times

It's in 1999 that Andrea Fiorucci, after many attempts in many bands,
meets, after a coincidence José Dos Santos, a devoted guitar player.
Their connivance is the result of their sharing of love for the guitar
playing, expressive music and Jimmy Hendrix. Both guitar players build
up a threesome with a drummer of Nancy, with whom they won't perform
live until September 2001. The wish of going on will force them to look
for new serious musicians. After an advertisement, they meet Sean
Birch, a young complete artist, who plays violin, bass guitar, guitar
and drums. Not longer than 1 month later, another coincidence brings
them together with Hugo Jaeger, who is a young drum player, of which
the will of playing accord him wings. It's in his attic that they
improve their songs by arranging them with lyrics written as a result
of tearing. But Andrea Fiorucci who writes at this point most of the
songs and lyrics doesnt feel comfortable with singing. Finally, in
January 2002, the attendance of a singer is getting sine qua non. Right
at this moment, José remembers Serge Santos, a singer, a great music
fervent, with whom José played 5 years ago. Serge's coming will provide
the final touch to their first big project which is called Myein.
MYEIN was a band inspired by the whole 90s flow. Big distorted guitars
alternated with soft arpeggios, all mixed up with unctuous, funky
rhythms. Groomed arrangements covered with hyper expressive vocals
which follows a long course of an echo. It is a band that suffers of a
lack of emblematic movements, that is a hero. Its all their generations
mood that woke up one morning, the ashtray filled with cigarettes, a
headache as the only companion and its exactly this merry sadness, this
melon collie, coloured with a false hope that we can find in their
music, of which lyrics tell about failed promises, alcohol, daydreams,
existential problems and a growing lack of confidence between the
artist and its ethical entourage In their two-years existence Myein

confirmed bands...but then a fight forced the musician to sever from
their singer.

You may know that some people gradually become each other and Birch
Sean (bass), Dos Santos José(guitar), Fiorucci Andrea (guitar &
noises) and Jaeger Hugo (drum) decided to continue together and in a
totally new way. At this period of their life they began to listen to
bands like The Fall of Troy, The Cancer Conspiracy, Mogwai, Godspeed
you black emperor, From Monument to masses, Pink Floyd, The Mars Volta
Even if musically, they were most strongly influenced by stuff they
hate, meaning that while they don't all agree on what they like ( for
example: Andrea likes math rock like Don Caballero or Hella while the
other guys dont even know what it is), they do tend to agree on what
they don't like. Things like, overused chord progressions, harmonic
typicality, pop structures etc. So, the four guys all tend to veto the
same kinds of things, and that binds them together, this is also the
reason why they decided to continue. This change meant also playing
less concerts, but having more fun together as four friends! What they
wanted to do now, was "Never give the listener a chance to get bored."
And never give themselves a chance to get bored! They try to accomplish
this by pushing the boundaries of the unexpected in every aspect of
what they do. Provocative compositions? Maybe In April 2005
Medleyjukebox went to record their first concept album. The album was
produced by a young prod. called Charel Stoltz. The concept was easy:
one song, about fifty minutes, divided in three fields. The first and
the second field are based on danceable rock music influenced by a post
hardcore spirit based on rhythm breaks, long distorts parts interfere
with quiet moments to create a sort of post-modern rockopera. The third
field is built around stop&go structures balanced between the calm
attitude of a house pet and the aggressive approach of a wolf!
Medleyjukebox first lp is a public insult to all the rock wankers who
keep doing the same song over and over; the spirit of Medleyjukebox
could be resumed in a sentence: If u think that stereotypes do work
then go **** yourself!
During a gig at the begining of 2006 the four musicians get the
attention of Finestnoise (an indie label in Germany) and sign after two
weeks for a distrubution in Germany and a worldwide
digitaldistrubution. The albums release in Germany is planned for June
2006.

The Francis for Coppola Times

The release of Tinki Winki and the attention, the critics or the
sustain gave them new energy. That is why they try to go in again in a
new direction. Not to fallow stereotypes means as well not to rewrite
the same album. Summer 2006 The guys are working with a new musician named Birtz Steve.
He is a singer, guitarplayer but manages also the drum. He entered the
group as singer and provides new ideas and new energy. The
new stuff the guys are working on could be described as funkemocore.
